Zimmer Group presents the next gripper generation for human-robot collaboration
Robots have long been an indispensable part of the everyday industrial, but in the future more and more people are working directly with robots or are supported by them at work. In order for this human-robot collaboration (HRC) ensure maximum safety, special robots and customized handling components are re-quired. High demands are made both to the robot itself and to the robotic tools used. That the engineers of Zimmer Group initiated, with the gripper series GEH6060IL to develop one of the world's first mechatronic parallel gripper, which has been specifically optimized for the human-robot collaboration. The gripper series GEH6060IL was constructed by BG / DGUV recommendations and meets the current requirements, which were summarized in the technical specification of ISO on the safety requirements in the human-robot col-laboration (ISO / TS15066).
The new gripper includes , for example, no sharp edges and are designed so that at their sides rounded shape accidental snagging is practically impossible. Thus, it cannot come to crush injury, in the intermediate jaws a mechanical gripping force limiting is also integrated. It ensures that decouple the gripper fingers when crossing a defined force independently from the gripper and thereby protect the people in the working area of the robot reliably. This feature is in contrast to other systems available on the market completely reversible and can be used repeatedly. After triggering of the safety function of the gripper returns to its initial state and can be used immediately after being triggered latches to gripper fingers.

Integrated control, connection via IO-Link
The gripper series GEH6060IL are driven by a brushless, electronically commutated DC motor which knows almost no wear and therefore provides an excellent operational safety.
The grippers are equipped with an integrated control and it is very easy thanks to the IO-Link connection into operation. The adjusted data can be selectively entered or taught. They can be centrally stored and easily transferred to devices with the same function, resulting in significant time savings during commis-sioning. Actuators and sensors can be replaced during operation, and as the setting data can be transferred quickly and without error to the new devices, a maximum guarantee of uptime.
The grippers have a maximum stroke of 2x60mm, the gripping force can be regulated within a wide range and ranges depending on the version of 45 N to 950 N.
